So, I finally got the model finished. I can now tick it off on my “to do” list! I had thought it was a good idea to let everyone see what the end result looks like. I can take you through a few stages to completion, I do add that this is more for my sake than anything, it helps me remember to photograph each stage and get into the habit (I’m pretty absent minded when I get caught up in making things!)
The next step was to finish the black windows on all the structures, as well as a bit of touching up bits on the model. After this, I began to build up layers of flock and scatter, Grey/tarmac type, Dark green patches, static grass and grey ballast to give a scruffy unkempt wasteland industrial feel. A few bits of moss and it was ready to go for the next stage.
I spent a while taking measurements of the areas that required signage, then proceeded to convert them into a set of appropriate signs and additions on my DTP software. I did a fair few warning signs and cctv ones, as I thought the fortified nature of the scrap compound warranted high security! After they were printed out on card stock and paper, I just stuck them on and hoped for the best! I’m pretty pleased with the results, it has turned out much better than I had hoped, I’m sure I will still add a few bits and bobs, but I’m happy with it at the moment. Here’s the finished shots, I hope you like!
You may have wonered why the base still has a visible lip that might need filling. There is a good reason, the wooden base of the model is a bit of laminate floorboard and my plan is to use this locking system to join my additional models to it (there is a road section that fits in front of this one, pics when i get it done!) So, I haven’t made a mistake!!
This model is intended for use with my 15mm salvage crew team for the game with the same name. My tank is now all but finished (shots later) to accompany the business of sci-fi scrap trading and recovery. I must admit, when I look at the finished terrain, it makes me want to create more bits to go along with it, this is in addition to the ones I have planned, I really should slow down and not try to add more things to my schedule, and trust me I have shed loads of stuff on the go all the time, minis, models, paintings, drawings, allsorts on my ever growing list. I guess that I just enjoy what I do!!
Awesome! Love the billboard…
