Hi everyone. If you were expecting the latest Grim’s Dungeons of Doom article this weekend, then I have to apologise and tell you that it will be coming up later this week. I have been side tracked by the work I’ve been doing on the latest PDF in my range, and I thought I’d share some preview pictures of it so far.

This pack is the first of my fully 3d environment kits, that can be used to create interior layouts both small and huge. I’ll be releasing more add on packs and new themes as time goes on, so I hope that you’ll enjoy making and using them. The theme for this kit being that of the Arcane Library, but can be used for a whole heap of different indoor places easily without too much adaption. The kit comes with several different wall variants, lots of book shelf designs, an empty bookcase, supports, doorways and floors.

I’ll be releasing The Arcane Library pack in a few days over on wargame vault (and associated sister sites) so if you like the look of it, you’ll be able to get it there. I’m pretty pleased with the end result, and I’ve already started on an accessory kit (Fine Furnishings Vol 1, which might also be out around the end of the week, if I’m lucky.)

Everything you can see apart from the ground texture (found in the Grim’s ground works PDF) and some miniature books (from the books, scrolls and maps volumes PDF) is included in the pack. I do hope that buyers of the product will share some pics of their builds to see what they can come up with!!

Grim’s Dungeons of Doom: Realm of the dead; Opening Cemetery Gates.

It’s Saturday, and that means it’s yet another post for Grim’s Dungeons of Doom, that being of the advanced (but still quite easy) version of the cemetery gateway, actual opening gates. I have tried to use alternatives methods and materials to give you some different ideas that you can take away and adapt for your own builds on a variety of model projects.  Continue reading

Grim’s Dungeons of Doom: Dem bones, Dem bones: Bone Pile Respawner Markers

In this edition of Grim’s Dungeons of Doom, we are going to deal with the creation of bone piles for our mini dungeon. These can be used as debris or even better (as I plan on doing) as undead respawn markers. Every respectable dungeon should have a few of these to warn those pesky adventurer types, just how they might end up by delving too deep within it’s tunnels…

This is a dead easy and quick make, and will get you some nice looking pieces for really minimal effort.  Continue reading

Grim’s Dungeons of Doom: Tavern Tales: Raising the bar! Making a Tavern bar!

Well, here I am again, with a later than  scheduled terrain making post, I know it’s been a while, but haven’t had much chance to do much with a PC for what seems like ages.

So, while not fitting the whole dungeon theme entirely, we kick off this belated Grim’s Dungeons of Doom article with a set piece that is ever present in stock fantasy games, The Tavern bar. This’ll be first in a series detailing how to turn your modular dungeon scenics into more than just an underground lair, and lets you turn the system into a viable way to simulate entire buildings and interiors. These new pieces need no more skills or techniques other than what I’ve already shown you, and we’ll refer to other articles in the series for the “how to’s” to specific parts of the build.

Grim’s Dungeons of Doom: Restore 2 Stamina; Miniature provision markers.

If you remember In most Fighting Fantasy books from the distant past, you always had the opportunity to heal your depleted Stamina score by munching on your provisions that you either had already, or simply found during the course of your adventure. So with this episode of Grim’s Dungeons of Doom, that’s what we’re going to create.

So, with that in mind I had to come up with something I could use during games to represent such found munchies as and when (Think of the computer game “Gauntlet” and I’m aiming for that sort of thing.) I’ll be making other markers in this way (Keys ,Treasure, poisoned provisions, corpses etc) but this one has much more application in other models beyond just the markers.
