100 Fatal Blows (Bladed edition) for all fantasy RPGs, PDF Release today!

24 Mar

Well, I waste no time in announcing the latest release in the Grinning Skull Design Studios schedule, our growing range of RPG & wargaming PDF publications.

Grinning Skull Design Studios presents: 100 Fatal Blows (Bladed Edition) for all fantasy RPGs.

The latest in the “Grim’s Amazing D100 Tables” range of publications, this product is designed to be used by both GM’s and players for adding killing blow descriptors for any RPG combat system that may lack that aspect. Completely system agnostic and made with compatibility with any fantasy RPG system in mind, can be used time and time again to give visceral and gore soaked descriptions of finishing blow criticals delivered with swords and other bladed weapons.

Although intended for fantasy RPGs, can be easily used for other gaming genres where bladed combat is used.

Compatible with virtually every Fantasy RPG system!

Crowdfunding Spotlight: Star Hat Miniatures: Heroic Scale Metal Figures Kickstarter

11 Aug

Well, how could I not feature this KS, given that the tagline for these minis is “Delvers Lost in the Dungeons of Doom!” it’s pretty much right up my alley! Star Hat miniatures are a company I haven’t come across before, but they have my attention now!

As you will gather, these are a set of generic adventurer types typical for dungeon exploration as per the usual RPG/wargaming fantasy fare. There is an old skool feeling to these, very similar to some ancient citadel sculpts and a few other older UK miniature firms work, which is a good thing, although some purists might disagree.

I like them, that’s for sure, and there are more than enough options for classes that’d fit many an RPG group needing some miniatures to fit their party for some dungeon bashing tomfoolery!

I feel that the only criticism I can aim at Star Hat Miniatures, is that the “Dungeons of Doom” moniker is used, and i should be at least getting a free set of them to pay for the favorable review and the royalty bonus for using that in the set title! But joking aside, they look fine to me and (hint, hint!) If you ever want me to review a set in person on here, please do!!!

No doubt this KS will be fully funded, as it’s already almost there, but do your bit and check them out if old skool D&D type figures is your thing. Check out the link to visit the project KS page for more info:

Grim’s Dungeons of Doom: Realm of the Dead; Necropolis Obelisk

9 Aug

Ok, so finally I found the photos for this episode of Grim’s Dungeons of Doom; Realm of the dead. This article, we are going to make some Necropolis Obelisks or tomb marker type monuments, these will match the rest of the other dungeon set and work well as standalone pieces in their own right. As ever, you can catch up with other articles in  this series by clicking on the link in the menu, to see how the set is put together. I’ll be detailing two different designs here, but the idea is simple so it’s just to illustrate how you can make up your own designs with little real effort. Anyway, lets get going and build something… Continue reading

Compendium Update!

28 Jul

updatetastercompen

Ok, first off, if you were hoping to see the next part in the Grim’s Dungeons of Doom article, then you’ll have to wait, as I’ve lost some photos somewhere, so I need to get a few new shots done to fill the gaps, but rest assured, it’ll be here soon!

Since I’ve been really busy beavering away with putting together the compendium, and school holiday duties (keeping my kids occupied is almost a full time job!) I thought I’d share some info with you about what’s coming up in the PDF.

As you can see from the above picture, here’s just five of the paper-kits that’ll be included in the book/zine, We have the shops/dwellings kit for an on the fly, easy way to create small villages for your games, then we have the Grinning Skull Studios meta-books sampler kit, for those of you who actually want to include some of our PDF publications on your models in 28mm scale!

We’ve also got some nice customisable ruined wall set that would suit almost every genre of game, and we have a tall wealthy quarter dwelling building too, all in 28mm.

Finally, we have a kit to expand on the dungeon builder series of models, such as our Arcane Library kit. Here we have the Grand stone temple expansion that will increase your options for building more varied and different complexes.

Not pictured, are the protest sign kit, ideal for modern gaming, The Fine furnishings sampler “the dinner party” kit and probably more kits I can’t remember, not to mention some great gaming and mini related articles to keep you entertained!

On a side note, we still have spaces left for any advertisers who might like some FREE advertising in the compendium, so please get in touch if you’d like to be included.

In the mean time, if you have any questions or need to know anything, get in touch, comment or discuss. I will be back soon with the next Dungeons of Doom article, and hopefully more.
