Another General Election, same old bag of shit. Grinning Skull’s politics rant!

7 Jun

Well, it’s a subject that I don’t entertain very often, the reason being, I fucking hate politics.

For us here in the UK, we have a General Election tomorrow to see which c**t gets put into office (or stays in) but while I usually exercise my right to vote, this year I can’t be bothered.

I have decided that however I vote, the chances are it’ll end up being one of these freaks in power. None of them are either inspiring, nor are they a strong leader I’d prefer to run this broken country I live in. Full of lies, full of broken promises, political candidates parade around kissing babies and arses, just to secure your votes, and if you are fool enough to swallow their bullshit, more fool you.

Now, I don’t want to start a discourse on here about how one party is better than the other, in my opinion, they are all the same. Nor do I want to upset any of you with your views, you vote for any you like, just that they offer nothing that I’m buying.

I’m sick of hearing about how they are going to sort things out, the economy, terrorism, health service, public sector, immigration, defence etc etc etc…Fuck it, all they ever do is squabble and back peddle. No matter how I would have voted, the results will always be the same.

A long time ago I would have voted LibDem (free the weed and all that) but after their cosying in bed with the Tories last time, what is the point? Plus Farron is not someone I could see fighting for us Brits on the international stage. It’s not like my vote would even count in my area anyway, it’s so up Labours arse round here, there’s no doubt that they’ll get in here yet again, absolutely pointless.

Whatever happens, the country will be broken. The SNP will eventually split the union (On a side note, why do the SNP leaders of late have second names of fish? Salmond, Sturgeon, what next Carp, Eel, Squid?) The NHS will end up overstretched and we’ll all have to pay up or die for medical help. Prices will go up and up and up and up, squeezing us for our last drops of blood.

There is nothing to inspire by having an election, just like the Brexit referendum that has just left chaos and doom, the only hope there seems to be is that of the movies and fiction. Still, at least the rest of the world is fucked as well, we’ll all go down together when the space brothers come and farm us for meat.

This’ll be the last time I even mention the subject, I’d rather not think about it. Time to put my fingers in my ears and sing “lalalalalalalalalala….” until it’s quiet again, I’ll just wake up the next morning and get on with things as if these monsters don’t exist…

Grim’s Dungeons of Doom: The tables are turned (or constructed…)

Now I’m back off my recent holiday, I wanted to get back into the further adventures of fleshing out my dungeon creation. Since my last related post was the Free Books PDF, I wanted to show you how to make stuff that you can display your newly constructed pieces upon.

This project is easy-peasy, really simple and will get you loads of nice tables for your dungeons, RPGs and Wargaming. This is just one simple way out of many. Remember we are just creating a flat top with four legs, I’m just putting the creation of tables here, because its for completists sake (Plus there would be those out there who ask me to give a run through, so here they are.)

For this, you’ll need some lolly sticks, cardstock, glue (PVA, Superglue) and something to form the legs (we’ll get to those in a bit)

DSCF5263

First, cut your lollysticks to form your tabletops. I used 3 lengths here, but you can use two. It depends on just how big you need the tables. You don’t need to measure, I do this by eye, but if you prefer measure them if you like (if they are uneven you can trim them after the next bit.)

DSCF5264

Cut a piece of cardstock and white glue it on to join the slats. It should be smaller than the width, but still wide enough to glue all the slats. You can join the pieces side on, but this way is quicker and makes the tops sturdier (Plus, you wont see the underside anyway) You can trim them up when the glue has set.

DSCF5266

For the legs, I’m using skull beads that I got for a couple of pounds from over on ebay. Stick on the legs with strong glue (superglue I used here)

DSCF5267

Since the height wasn’t sufficient enough, I added some little glass squares I had, taken from a christmas bauble that was destined for the bin, although its up to you what use as risers or legs for that manner, use what you have (matchsticks, dowel, cigarette filters, junk etc) Since theres not much to the tables, adding character to the legs is a good move.

DSCF5270

Now, stick them down with superglue or any strong glue to the base (cardstock) and leave to dry.

DSCF5271

Next, Spray/paint them with a black undercoat (or your preferred method) and leave to dry.

DSCF5272

Base coat with a dark brown (mine was Burnt Umber) or your choice, and slowly build up your desired wood colour to lighter shades.

When the basic table is finished, paint in the base to match your set up.

Now its time to add your decorations. I added my patented homemade mini candles since I’d imagine if there were something being used on them, they’d need light to see! Then just add your books, scrolls or maps to your hearts content! After this, they are ready to go. I made a few tables, and from the PDF I got quite a few variations as you can see below.

The table above is straight out of Fighting Fantasy! A dungeon map and a map of the FF gameworld Allansia. A few scrolls and maps and books and its all ready for any dungeoneers to come across it on their adventures!

This arcane table has magic books and tarot. I think Mr Crowley would approve!

See, easy as pie. You can add all sorts of bits and pieces in addition to the books from the PDF, Skull beads can be used, as can weapons or anything you like. Its an easy and quick project that can give a great end result,so why don’t you give it a go?

I’ll be back next, with more tiny furniture, and more to stick your PDF books on, so I’ll see you then!

CLOWN NEWS: Copycat Clowns on the increase, Chesterfield, Mansfield, and Doncaster bag their own clowns!

18 Nov

You might have thought that since the Northampton clown had been unmasked (Student filmmaker Alex Powell was revealed as the infamous clown and has since admitted it was him behind the stunt) that clown mania would have peatered out, but no, it has not the case. Following on from the Carrick fergus clown, it looks as if other pretenders have stepped for ward in Chesterfield and Mansfield.

To make matters worse, it finally has come full circle to me here in Doncaster, as I was informed that a creepy fellow is being hunted by the police just around the corner from me in Highfields, and someone dressed as a clown has been spotted tapping on windows trying to lure children from their houses! I daren’t tell my kids that there actually is an evil pennywise type just streets away, attempting to abduct kids, they would be petrified! Details are sketchy at this time, but as soon as I find more info, I’ll put an update up here. There’s even talk of there being not just one, but a couple of them, and that they are armed with knives! Although much of this could well be heresay, more info will no doubt come to light.

Now I fully expect that lots of other towns are going to aquire their very own demonic clown to terrorise the neighbourhoods where you live. I think that just the fact that us in the UK have this eccentric vibe for the strange and unhinged, this is going to spread. Where next and just how far will some of these nutters go. I for one will be keeping my happy stick (see wulf sternhammer from 2000AD) nearby just in case the Highfields clown tries to look through my windows!

If anyone in these areas knows any additional news about these wierdos, feel free to get in touch and let me know.

More clown news as and when.

Keeping the streets safe, from the skies….

So, while enjoying a bit of family time in my garden this last week (when the weather was nice) we clocked a low view of SYPD’s (South Yorkshire Police Dept etc) very own eye in the sky, no doubt looking for some local scrotes and villains we have in our area. It was pretty low flying, scanning for something I suspect, but I took the opportunity to take a couple of shots with my cam, all the time thinking to myself, “I wonder if there was an outbreak of the zombie virus, how would these feature?” A question that most have pondered before!

The reasons for this being with my 15mm zombie games, I think I should be getting one somehow. So, if you know where I can find a model of this helicopter (I’ll paint one up if I can find one close enough) please let me know, or if you have a suggestion that would suit, I’d love to hear it!

I love my camera, but don’t always have it at hand to take those on the fly moments, so this time it worked to my favour and got a few cracking action shots right from my comfy garden chair!! I did hear somewhere that it’s sometimes an offence to take photo’s of the cops (if it’s true or not I know not, but if anyone from the force wants me to remove and destroy the pics, I guess I’ll have to) I’m pretty proud of the shots, so it would be a shame to do anything like that, as I even managed to catch a glimpse of the crew inside…

Now, I’m not the best photographer in the world, but these are fantastic pics, I thought you’d like to see them! It’s not often one can get action pics this good unless you know your going to be in the right place (Like an airshow, or similar) to get them.
