Crowdfunding Spotlight: Tabletop Towns – Cargo Containers Kickstarter

14 May

There’s so much cool stuff for 28mm wargaming these days, it almost makes me want to start the switch back over. The choice and availability for the scale seems to far outstrip the rest that for most, it’s classed as god’s own scale!

Regulars to the site will recognise this latest KS from the tabletop towns stable of products, with this time, something for the wargamers who play modern & scifi. These containers suit the modular nature of the tabletop towns style of simple block shaped buildings and terrain, and I’m sure there will be plenty of takers for them.

Ideal scenics for a modern/zombie setting as well as the plethora of more scifi orientated stuff, and quite asthetically pleasing when grouped, it adds another string to their growing catalogue of portable card scenery. If you’ve been paying attention to the evolution of tabletop towns, I can see great things to come from them in the future.

Personally I’m holding out for some 15mm stuff (city blocks and the like) and I’d be all over them like no ones business, but I think that there’s probably more viability in 28mm in terms of sales from the 28mm folks, but with the growing popularity of 15mm, I still reckon there’s a good untapped market with the 15mm crowd.

As ever I wish them the best with their campaign (even so I know they’ll get full funding)

Zomtober: Week #4: Roving TV News crew.

27 Oct

Zombtober

So, I lead you to my last entry in Zomtober, rather than the usual hordes of dead things, I thought I’d make a little change and shake things up a bit by painting up some survivors instead.

This lot is from Irregular Miniatures in their 15mm Riot range (of which I have a lot of in my paint queue, you know rioters, cops, mounted riot police, dogs, etc) and is perfect for any zombie related skirmish scenarios as either a objective marker or even a crew looking to get the latest scoop on the biggest news story of their lives!

I love the way they have turned out, i’m still in two minds to if it was best to base them together, maybe it would have been a better idea to have them separate (Good thing is that they are cheap as chips, so I’ll maybe get a couple more sets to use too)

If your after these figures, get on over to Irregular Miniatures and have a look at their stuff, very reasonable and great service too!!

Zomtober is now over, but since I’m in a bit of a routine, you might see a bit more painting out of me (If time permits…)

Hope you enjoyed.

Catch you later.

Crowdfunding Spotlight: 15mm-32mm Terrain Maps Aftermath Mods Kickstarter

31 Aug

Now I’m back from my holiday, I want to point out this new KS from the guys at Aftermath Mods. If you recall, earlier this year they had some success with the modular terrain warehouse campaign, and they are back this time with something that will appeal to modern wargamers and RPGers. These 2D maps are going to be useful for any number of genres and scales, and is especially handy for 15mm zombie gamers like myself, to allow a bit of indoor fighting if your a bit bored with having to play your skirmishes on an outdoor terrain board.

There’s plenty of map options, and if you need them pre-printed, there’s an option for that too! I think there’s a lack of stuff like this available on the whole, lets hope in the future, us gamers will get more maps like these, especially scaleable to 15mm as with the PDFs they are offering.

Whilst I do like the idea, my only criticism is that I’d like them to have more detail and colour on them, or even some way of incorporating a card building system to fit over the top that you can remove when a building is entered etc. That would be very nice indeed.

Still, there’s nothing to say you can’t do that for yourself with a bit of forethought. Anyway, they are a handy thing to have for games, and remember you can print out as many copies as you like and no doubt, create huge custom boards.

Go and check the project and give them a hand raising the remaining funds needed to make the campaign a success!
