Coming up for air….

3 Sep

Jeezus…it’s been a while since I’ve posted here, and quite frankly put, it’s been no walk in the park recently for me.

As the title says, I think it is time to come up for air from the sea of crap I’ve been drowning in these few months and get back to doing what I am good at (suffering and wallowing might be something I’ve been accustomed to lately, but I’m not that good with it)

Blogging, wargaming, painting and modelling have seemed like nothing compared to the soap opera of life, so my focus shifted to more serious matters, stress even having a real physical effect on my health puts less emphasis on the whole scene too.

But, I do realise that with all the focus on the shit side of life, all work and no play makes jack a dull boy. We need these things in our our life to give us a distraction from the darker and stormy side of our dreary existences.

So, with that, I am starting to feel that it is time to kick myself up the ass and get inspired again, not an easy task (well, you lot might think it is, but I can assure you, how I’ve been feeling, it really isn’t) I’ll be getting back into all my blogging (I’ll try and keep it upbeat) and all the projects I’m doing (or had been doing) I’m not going to push it too hard for health reasons, but hopefully all will be well on that front (fingers crossed)

Again, thanks for your words of encouragement and good wishes, that have indeed kept me going this trying time, and made me realise that the time for being down and beaten is over.

The grinning skull has even more significance than ever, still grinning in the face of adversity.

Birthday’s aint what they used to be….

31 Jul

Just checking my stats, it has been reveled to me that here on wordpress.com the Grinning Skull Blog has reached the ripe old age of two years.

That in itself to me should be a sign of celebration, but presently I don’t have the will to woop and cheer at this news.

Some of those who know me, will know that my personal issues are a bit shit at the moment, I won’t get into detailing the sad and reprehensible things that have gone on to cause this woe, but safe to say, I wish that I could announce the skulls anniversary with a bit more vigor.

As the saying goes, that which does not kill us makes us stronger (yeah I know everyone uses that, but it’s true, and I don’t really give a flying fuck) and regardless of my turbulent personal status, I want to reassure any “proper regular” visitors to the site, that all this won’t finish any work I have done. Sure my attitude stinks at the moment, but if you knew what’s going on at the moment, you’d struggle with getting right.

Also I would like to address this to anyone in my schedule that are currently waiting for me to get their stuff done, I do apologise that it will take a bit longer than I anticipate, my status now is much different, so until I find more time to devote to it rather than deal with shit, I promise that I haven’t forgotten, and I’ll get in touch with you very soon to talk more about it.

I started this blog with the tongue in cheek title, never once realising its tag line would become even more poignant than before, as they say art does indeed imitate life, and all the laughing in the face of adversity has never meant as much as it has now for me. I shall indeed take this self advice to heart and continue to laugh at all adversity that comes, in fact I’m gearing up to go to war, laughing all the way to valhalla.

As ever, I want to thank all my readers, no matter how regular for their continued support of the site and input, as you lot give me the reason to keep the site going. Thanks to all out there that have helped and inspired me during this time, and all the kind comments and advice that make me have hope that the world isn’t totally gone to shit, just yet, and a renewed faith in my fellow humans.

Thanks everyone of you.

A quick update to let you know I’m not dead….

5 Mar

testcard

I just wanted to give you a little update, recently I haven’t had enough free time to be updating and posting here at the grinning skull, due to my commitments, bad internet connection, a turbulent personal life and other contributing factors it’s been a bit of a struggle to keep up with the web side of life.
I want all of you to know that have contacted me regarding crowdfunding spotlight, I will get around to sorting out your campaigns with a some postings, and as well as long awaited updates on my various projects and material for you to take a look at.
I want to assure any regular readers here that normal service will be resumed soon, but lately my connection has been extremely poor and sometimes I can’t even get a connection to the web, plus sometimes I find that too much time on the net is very counter productive to creating stuff, and that any spare time I get is better served actually “doing” than getting sidetracked by catching up with trials and tribulations, news and reviews here on the WWW, which can swallow up precious time spent on the internet! I do love to read what is going off with other peoples blogs and sites, but too much time can be spent this way when I could be attending to things in the real world that need to be done, so my apologies if you’ve been logging on to read the blog only to find I haven’t updated as often as I usually could.
Of course I will be posting the usual link to the latest episode of The Walking dead, for all you zombie fans, and hopefully now my camera is ok, I can start showing you some pics of my latest stuff, but just bare with me….You know how it is sometimes…!

Arisen from the ashes….we’re back!! You can’t keep a good skull down!

28 Jan

Well, hello everyone. Finally we’re back!

Just a quick post. My apologies to all of you for the brief break, it would seem like the WordPress people have seen fit to unsuspend the blog (following all that S-E-M-A-L-T nonsense) and see things for how they actually are.

Ok, maybe all that talk really didn’t do me any favours overall, but at least the good folks here finally had a look and gave me the all clear. I won’t be speaking of them (thou who will not be named) and I’ve deleted the last post concerning them, so there’s no problem.

Thanks for all the concern (and I breathe a sigh of relief to know my blog’s work isn’t all lost!) and I look forward to writing more posts that (hopefully) you’ll enjoy!

Well, New year and back to business as usual…

9 Jan

Hello all, I’m back now,and hoping to get concentrate on getting things back on schedule here on the blog. I’ve been taking it easy on the net, so I hope you aint’ missed me too much!

I hope that Santa brought you lot some good stuff, and that you ate your fill of turkey and Xmas pud!

I do enjoy the chance to refresh one’s lifestyle palette, so to speak, the whole way the new years resolution phase allows each of us to make a new start in our lives, however large or small that it may amount to. Even so much of these promises we make to ourselves fall by the wayside, we do owe it to ourselves to try the best to at least give it a try, nothing too much out of the comfort zone, but for those of weaker willpower, something easy and more achievable is probably best (Like many I know) Yes a new year is a great time to get setting goals.

Myself, I’m already getting back into the vibe with loads of new stuff on my workbench, I’ve been finishing lots of old part done projects, as well as a few new ones (I must admit things are getting done with some gusto, they are coming along with excellent speed!) I’ll be showing off some of these soon when I dust off the camera and take a few shots of the stuff.

I’ve been tackling my Oggam specific boards and pieces,  designing 28mm trolls and their kin, a 28mm dungeon board and bits, Mad Mecha guy scenery, Deluxe zombie mask madness and more. Lots of new ideas too for this year, a pretty mixed bag of stuff I hope to be sticking my fingers into, I hope you’ll be in it too for the ride.

Happy New year.
