Followers of the strange, might have seen this already, but for those who haven’t, in the US state of Oklahoma in a place called Paseo, a strange and unspeakable monument has turned up out of the blue.

No one apparently knows just who or what has put it there, or for what purpose, and it seems as if there could be a dark and brooding connection….

Inscribed on a brass plaque, it reads..

“In the year of our lord 2012, Creer Pipi, Claims this land for Azathoth

Is this an indication that sinister cults are up to no good? Or that cthonic entities are about to claw up some land in the new world? Crawling chaos indeed!

Well, as for Creer Pipi, it seems that the answer could be a few Mythos fans having a laugh, as Creer seems to mean “to believe” and Pipi literally is “Pee” or “Piss”! Quite literally they seem to be taking the piss!

The area is reportedly one of lots of arty types, and knowing lots of types like that, it wouldn’t surprise me this was the case.

However, there could indeed be more to this mystery if you take into account that there do exist actual covens of Neo pagan chaos magickians that really do use the whole HPL mythos in their rites and ceremonies, so in another sense we could be looking at a real attempt at some kind of fucked up new age occult rituals. Markers stones like this are used in the occult to create larger sacred working spaces and/or sanctify/corrupt the area for better use with rituals, in much the same way christians will bless or consecrate holy ground.

My money is on a joke, the creer pipi reference sort of gives it away.

Regardless, we might never know the truth behind the mystery, as it’s going to be removed anyway. I’m sure the culprits are basking in their 15 minutes of internet stardom….

Crowdfunding Spotlight: Cthulhu Wars Kickstarter

9 Jun

Today, although I have a few posts to make, I’m keeping it brief, if you haven’t noticed (a bit of flu I’m afraid!) On to another great looking project is the new baby from Sandy Peterson (of Call of Cthulhu RPG fame) this time with a game called Cthulhu Wars, and as you an guess based on the works and Mythos of HPL himself.

There are some really disgustingly fantastic creature sculpts here, that’s what interests me most about the whole thing, there’s some lovely playing pieces here.  Its a bit out of my price range at the moment, so I’m kicking myself that I can’t get some of the factions for my own purposes, all I can say is roll on that lottery win just so I can get all these miniatures and shinies I keep seeing available!

Check it out and get involved.

Anyone up for “Puffed Shoggoths”?

2 Apr

I just thought I’d point out a few kickstarters I think are worthy of note, first is this great looking art zine, based on the works of HPL, “Puffed Shoggoths”.

As you know, I’m quite a mythos fan, I really love the idea of this one, dedicated to pieces of art with the distinctly dark pulpy feel, similar to that of the old horror comics and some old school Cthulhu RPGs.

I’d like to think at some point I’d contribute to stuff like this, or even create one of my own, still I have tons of stuff to keep me busy at the moment, so maybe its best to leave it to the folks who are looking for the funding to get this one into print!!

Cthulhu calling! Mythos Foundry Kickstarter!

18 Feb

From time to time I forget to mention stuff, and this is one of the times. Maybe it’s a kind of dementia caused by something unseen, unholy and lurking in the recesses of m psyche…Like something certainly Lovecraftian as illustrated by this excellent KS I honestly forgot to blog about. You too can own a huge great old one in miniature, (if you can say that!).

The folks at Mythos foundry have lots of great looking stuff in this KS, including a cracking miniature of HP Lovecraft mimself! For those out there that love all things HPL it truly is a n excellent thing to get involved in as when it comes to getting a decent sized effigy of the tentacled one, they are few and far between. Scaled at 1/61 or Tru30 (TM? Tru30 is 30mm if you haven’t guessed) its a real monster coming in at 21 inches total (oo-er Cthulhu!) Pledges for backers to get one of these start at $150 (That’s £96.64 for those in the UK)

Can you imagine this terrorising your opponents on the battlefield? They would be shitting bricks!

There are only 6 days left to be in on this, so if you have the funds rattling round and your wondering as to what you’d like to buy yourself or that special deranged cultist in your life, go and take a gander at the project!

Right, I’m off to make a sanity check now….

15mm Doomsday cultists….

20 Sep

I thought I would post a couple of pics to show you my Cultists, originally they are from a historical manufacturer (donnington I think, but please correct me if I’m wrong) I have had them for quite a while in amongst my lead mountain so I reckon these will be the core of a new enemy force, throwin some eldritch horrors, cultists with weapons and an odd sacrifice and we are cooking with gas….

Maybe I will sculpt that big Cthulhu creature for them to summon and smash up the enemy?…..

If anyone has some good ideas for additional cultists to join their party, let me know…
