Now, somehow I don’t think this will ever catch on, but at first look at the graphic for this board game, I did think that for some reason this project was something to do with a biblically themed battle (Given the fact it’s called “Surrender”, quite a dynamic name for a wargame, don’t you think?)
Only, it isn’t.
Surrender, is a strange game, in which players seem to have to recite bits out of the bible every time they land on a square on the board. As you can make out, each square has a word on it, and whatever word you get, you have to say a verse/line etc with that word on it.
All I can say is if I was playing, I would be shit at it! I don’t know fuck all about it enough to even stand a chance, mind you 99% of everyone I know would be as shit as me too. Too bad with it, as the presentation is quite eye catching. I do think that if you did find the game mechanics attractive, you’d be hard pressed to find an opponent.
Given that board games of this type are the niche within a niche (specialist christian boardgames and that!) sad fact is this is going to sink like a lead balloon. Maybe the best idea for this would have been to ask their local christian group or church to help get the funds.
Better still, why not make a biblical themed war boardgame, none of this bible phrase bollocks, a good, playable strategy game around the ancient themes. It might appeal to a lot more than just the Christian boardgames market (Does that even exist?)
Check it out if you sounds your cup of tea, get on over.
Personally I’ll stick with RISK!
Peace out….
