More 15mm 40k Space orc(y) goodness. Squiggoth WIP

9 Jun

DSCF3594

To carry on with my 15mm space orc lot, I thought I’d share my latest addition to them, my squiggoth. It’s a repurposed scotia-grendel 28mm warbeast (a Kev adams sculpt I think) that I had knocking around. With an added howdah and a large cannon (plus a few random snotlings as 15mm grots for crew, it’s shaping up nicely.

There’s still a bit left to do, a highlight here and there, a few bits to add and a banner or two, and of course the basing to do before I’ll call it a day and stop, but it does mean that slowly, but surely my orc force is getting there.

I’ll admit that I’m not the greatest painter, but one still has to keep their hand in it so to speak. I the type that will always be faffing until the end of time, trying to add to stuff in order to get a better finish. I’ll also hazard a guess, that I’m not the only one!

Crowdfunding Spotlight: Impudent Mortal’s 15mm/28mm Industrial Terrain Kickstarter

14 May

Another great looking KS, is Impudent Mortals newest set of 15mm & 28mm laser cut scenery. As ever I fly the flag for 15mm and have to say these are really nice looking and quite reasonable to boot.

There’s plenty here for players of both scales, and no doubt loads of applications for the terrain in terms of games they can be used in (Necromunda anyone?) I’m really not surprised they are well funded already as they really are nice bits of kit.

Check it out, Nuff said!

For sale: 15mm Black Dog Salvage Co. model terrain up for auction!

19 Jan

DSCF1354

Some time ago, you may recall (If your a regular reader that is…) that I showed you a 15mm sci-fi building terrain piece entitled “The Black Dog Salvage company” which I made for games of the free wargame, Salvage Crew.

Due to lack of space, I am reluctantly having to let it go. Sure I’ve used it a few times, and I did enjoy the experience of creating it in the first place, so I’m not too gutted. I think that it’s time to let another person enjoy the model in their 15mm scifi wargames.

To be honest, I have to make way and space for some bigger terrain pieces for my Oggam table, and I have very few specific bits that fit completely with the salvage company building. In an ideal world I would be creating huge cityscapes and dioramas, but I just don’t have the room anymore that fulfill most of my artistic aspirations, so it’s really gotta go. Priorities and all that.

It’s now live on Ebay, so if you fancy having a go at bidding on it, get on over there and take a look http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=131097001003

Dropship Horizon Blog Launches Titanium Dropship 2014 ; 15mm sci fi miniature painting comp!

17 Jan

For those of you out there into 15mm sci-fi, Dropship Horizon have launched their comp for 2014. There are loads of 15mm companies putting up stuff as prizes, so if you think your skills at painting and modelling in 15mm with a science fiction flavour are up to it, get yourself along and take part.

I might see you in the entries, (time permitting) but you never know! There’s plenty of scope in the three categories to get your brain cells into ignition, plus it’s great to see the emphasis solidly on the whole 15mm scifi wargaming genre.

Kinda makes me think we shouldn’t be doing some kind of comp, here at the Grinning Skull? what do you think?

Anyway, go check it out and get involved!
